The Westerwald
Region
The
Westerwald region is little known outside of Germany but is one of the
best maintained Nature Reserve Parks within Germany. The
woods,
streams, rivers and lakes are full of wildlife. The little red squirrel
now virtually extinct in the UK can be seen regularly scurrying around
the local forests.
This combined with the many varieties of woodland birds, woodpeckers
are commonly heard if not so easily seen, make the area superb for the
nature lover, walker or cyclist.
There
is local history to explore, and many small local
festivals take place throughout the summer, which makes the
Westerwald an excellent place to visit, relax and enjoy.
